PHILIPPINE LONG DISTANCE TELEPHONE (ADR) NYSE:PHI UPGRADED

Philippine Long Distance Telephone (ADR) NYSE:PHI has been upgraded to a strong buy with a 2012 price target of $73 and an average dividend yield of 6% expected by Shayne Heffernan.

The Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT), incorporated on November 28, 1928, telecommunications service provider in the Philippines. The Company’s segments include wireless, fixed line and information and communications technology. The Company offers diversified range of telecommunications services across the Philippines’ fiber optic backbone and wireless, fixed line and satellite networks. The Company provides wireless communication, fixed line communication, and ICT services to its subscribers and customers. The Company provides services to mobile, business, residential and payphone customers. On April 8, 2010, SPi CRM, Inc. (SPi CRM), Parlance Systems, Inc. (Parlance) and Vocativ Systems, Inc. (Vocativ) were merged, with SPi CRM.

Wireless

The Company’s wireless telecommunications services provided through its cellular service providers. The Company’s cellular service providers include Smart, PLDT Communications and Energy Ventures, Inc. (PCEV) and Connectivity Unlimited Resource Enterprise, Inc. (CURE). Smart Broadband, Inc. (SBI), 3rd Brand Pte. Ltd. (BOW), Airborne Access Corporation and Primeworld Digital System, Inc. (PDSI) are its wireless broadband service providers. Wolfpac Mobile, Inc. (Wolfpac) and Chikka Group are its wireless content operators; and ACeS Philippines, its satellite operator. Its wireless segment operates two loyalty points programmes, one for Smart Money cardholders and another for subscribers of Smart Gold, Smart Buddy and SmartBro. The loyalty program for Smart Money allows cardholders, upon enrollment, to accumulate points when they use their card for purchases, Smart Load payments, and reloads for Smart’s prepaid cards, SmartBro prepaid Airtime and Smart Money Cash Load.

Fixed Line

The fixed line telecommunications services are primarily provided by PLDT. The Company also provides fixed line services through PLDT’s subsidiaries PLDT Clark Telecom, Inc. (ClarkTel), PLDT Subic Telecom, Inc (SubicTel), PLDT-Philcom, Inc. (Philcom), PLDT-Maratel, Inc. (Maratel), SBI, PDSI, BCC and PLDT Global.

Information and communications technology (ICT)

Information and communications infrastructure and services for Internet applications, Internet protocol-based solutions and multimedia content delivery provided by ePLDT, Inc. (ePLDT) and BayanTrade, Inc. (BayanTrade Group); knowledge processing solutions provided by the SPi Technologies, Inc. (SPi Group); customer interaction solutions provided by SPi CRM, Inc. (SPi CRM); Internet access and online gaming services provided by Infocom, Digital Paradise, Inc. (Digital Paradise), netGames, Inc. (netGames) and Level Up!, Inc. (Level Up!), and e-commerce, and IT-related services.
