AT&T to hire 101 technicians for U-verse business

Gov. Scott Walker on Tuesday lauded an announcement by AT&T that the telecommunications company has begun hiring 101 technicians around the state to support the company's U-verse business. At a news conference in Milwaukee, AT&T officials said the company is committed to expanding its mobile broadband network in the state. Walker was on hand for the announcement. "I commend AT&T for continuing to grow Wisconsin's economy by adding these important jobs," Walker said. "These are high-tech jobs that provide competitive wages and benefits that are among the best in the telecommunications industry." The company said it has invested $800 million in its Wisconsin wireless and wireline networks from 2008 to 2010. It also has expanded its mobile broadband network capacity in Green Bay and Oshkosh, and activated new mobile broadband coverage in Wausau and Eau Claire.
