The report attaches a list of countries rated based on their mobile internet penetration: Thailand (36 percent); Singapore (35 percent); Vietnam (29 percent), Philippines (24 percent); and Malaysia (21 percent).
The report predicts that mobile internet trend will continue to rise as 53 percent of Indonesian internet users gain more access to the Internet through mobile phones.
"Devices having the capabilities to connect to the Internet such as tablet computers and smartphones enable Indonesian consumers to gain access to the Internet without having to depend much on broadband services at homes," said AC Nielsen Managing Director of Audience Measurement, Irawaty Pratignyo, in a press release.
Despite the high mobile internet penetration, Indonesia has the lowest internet penetration in Southeast Asia. Only one out of five Indonesians at the age of 15 and above uses the Internet (21 percent).
Singapore has the highest level of internet penetration at 67 percent; Malaysia (38 percent); Philippines (33 percent); Thailand (31 percent) and Indonesia (21 percent).
