Gabay Guro Oct. 9 teachers’ day tribute is star-studded

AS always, PLDTSmart Foundation’s Gabay Guro’s most awaited culminating Celebration happens again this year on Oct. 9 at the Mall of Asia Music Hall, but this time, it has become bigger in scope and more fun-filled. Gabay Guro is a program that offers scholarships and training to education students and public school teachers, providing computers and broadband connection to public schools, livelihood and housing support, and privileges through the Teachers’ Tribute Card, and freebies courtesy of Gabay Guro’s partner establishments. Celebrations have already been underway, coming from the heartwarming Simpleng Handog dinner with the big man of PLDT, Manny V. Pangilinan, where Gabay Guro scholars who recently graduated from Philippine Normal Unviersity were honored by MVP and the other officials from the PLDT-Smart Foundation. The students from 2010 and 2011 were the first who benefited from full four-year courses under 2G’s scholarship program, generating seven cum laude graduates in all. They are now inspired and equipped to become the best teachers they can be in order to help nurture the young minds of the country. On Oct. 6, a welcome dinner to be hosted by MVP and the Gabay Guro committee for all Gabay Guro teachers is in order, to be followed by a Teachers Treasure Chest creativity workshop on Oct. 7. On Oct. 8, “Eat Bulaga” will pay tribute to the teachers via a special show. Then on Oct. 9, top celebrities headlined by Ricky Reyes, birthday girl Rhian Ramos, hunk Aljur Abrenica, Paolo Ballesteros, and Wally Bayola, among others, will honor the teachers in the culminating Teachers’ Day event at SM Mall of Asia.
