Affordable (or even free) VoIP from USBIP, MoBIP
With Filipinos based on almost every corner of the globe, it’s imaginable that we or someone we know have heard of or probably used Skype at some point.
But do you know that there is a locally developed app that can be purchased or downloaded on your PC, iPhone or Android (or even Symbian) smartphone? It’s called USBIP or MoBIP.
First of all, what is USBIP?
USBIP is a USB-based communication device that integrates a user’s telephone experience with desktop and mobile computer solutions. It offers multi-party audio and video conferencing, which makes it ideal for both personal and business use.
As small as a typical flash drive, USBIP runs on any Windows-enabled PC or laptop. It doesn’t require any software installation; neither does it interfere with other computer functions nor take up memory space.
Users simply purchase a USBIP device from any authorized USBIP retail outlet. Unlike other IP carriers that require users to download software, USBIP is plug-and-play.
Once online (preferably with a broadband connection), users can immediately enjoy crystal-clear voice quality when they call friends and loved ones anywhere in the world.
Features of USBIP include seven-party audio conferencing, five-party video conferencing, Instant Messaging, Auto-launching Software, Call Display and Message Waiting Indicator, Call History, and Online Account Management.
USBIP-to-USBIP calling is free. USBIP to landline or mobile phone calls are charged as little as P1 per minute. There are no monthly charges, connection fees or set-up costs.
MoBIP, on the other hand, is a downloadable app for smartphones (including iPod touch and iPads) to turn them into a VoIP phones, enabling them to make low-cost (as low as P1 per minute) VOIP calls over Wi-Fi and 3G (the latter subject to the local carrier’s data costs).
MoBIP is a downloadable app for smartphones to turn them into VoIP phones.
MoBIP provides users with mobility (call from anywhere they are), portability (no need for a PC or laptop), easy connectivity (make calls over 3G networks or from any Wi-Fi hot spot), ease of use (intuitive and user-friendly interface lets user make calls like with an ordinary phone), and live chatting instead of SMS (MoBIP’s instant messaging feature allows you to chat with your MoBIP contacts real-time on your handset and reduce the lag time and expensive costs of SMS).
