Huawei Showcases Latest Mobile Broadband Innovation at CES 2013

Huawei,a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, unveiled the world's smallest data card, UltraStick E3331, today at CES 2013. Measuring 7 mm thin, 67.5 mm long and 25.5 mm wide, with a white design, UltraStick E3331 is the perfect data card modem to go with any stylish light-weight portable laptop. UltraStick E3331 supports a download speed of up to 21 Mbps in the PA+ network, and also runs on the IPV6 network. E3331 features Huawei's proprietary Hi-Link technology, allowing network connection in just 15 seconds. "A key trend which can be seen across mobile devices, laptops and even digital cameras is for light and thin designs," said Wang Yeh Biao , Director, Huawei Data Card Product Group. "Huawei is investing resources to develop advanced and innovative, yet light and thin, mobile broadband products. We are very happy to launch the UltraStick E3331 data card as we continue to make convenience and great technology available to more people." The UltraStick E3331 is Huawei's next-generation data card, building on the popularity of the E369. Slimmer and lighter than its predecessor, the UltraStick E3331 will be available in the Philippines from February 2013, with other markets to follow.

Amped Wireless showcases its first 802.11ac router, the RTA15

Amped Wireless, maker of extra-long-range, high-power Wi-Fi products, showed off at CES 2013 the upcoming RTA15 High Power Dual Band AC 700mW Wi-Fi Router, the company's first that supports the new 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard.

Like previous routers from Amped Wireless, such as the 600mW Gigabit Dual Band R20000G, the new RTA15 promises to offer incredible Wi-Fi coverage.

According to Amped Wireless, the new router features three high-gain, dual-band antennas and 10 total power amplifiers: four 5GHz 700mW, two-stage amplifiers, two 2.4GHz amplifiers, and four low-noise amplifiers. As the result, Amped Wireless claims it can cover up to 7,500 square feet with its Wi-Fi signal. A typical apartment is about 1,000 square feet.

The RTA15 is true dual-band router that also has a USB port for file sharing. When coupled with an external hard drive, it has four Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports (for connecting wired clients) and one Gigabit Ethernet WAN port (to connect to an Internet source, such as a broadband modem). The company says the the RTA15 now comes with an updated user interface and offers common home-networking features, such as guest networks, adjustable Wi-Fi coverage controls, parental security controls, and support for the latest Wi-Fi security standards.

Amped Wireless didn't demo the new router's coverage at CES 2013, since that's basically impossible to do given the number of Wi-Fi hot spots present on the show floors. So be sure to check back for a full review when the router becomes available sometime in the first quarter of this year. Its pricing will also be announced then.
