Tech Mahindra starts BPO operations in Philippines

Tech Mahindra, India's fifth largest software exporter, today announced plans to set up BPO operations in the Philippines, after the company recently signed a multi-million dollar deal with a local telecommunications company.

Tech Mahindra will be one of the preferred BPO partners for strategic outsourcing for this telecommunications company in the Philippines, under a deal spread over 3 years, the company said in a release.

Under the deal, Tech Mahindra will provide the full-service telecom firm with contact center support for sales and back office, customer care and technical support for their wireless postpaid, landline and broadband customers - both retail as well as high-end, the company said.

Tech Mahindra has set up a contact centre at Manila to enable and deliver these services to the client and has already recruited over 600 associates locally.

The company already serves clients in seven African countries, including Nigeria, Zambia, Malawi, Ghana and Gabon, while new centres in Congo DRC and Congo B are expected to start operations within the next few months.

"Philippines is not only a key market for us, but also a strategic location from where we plan to service our global clients. We look forward to strengthening our presence in the Philippines through our engagement with one of the leading players in the Philippines telecom industry and will actively support our client's innovative plans to address the mobile telephony and broadband services market," Sujit Baksi, president - corporate affairs and BPO, Tech Mahindra, said.

Get Free Broadband Internet Access

Broadband is a commonly used term in Internet terminology. Yet, many consumers do not really know just what broadband access is. According to the Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau of the Federal Communications Commission, broadband Internet refers to high speed Internet access exceeding data transmission of 200 kilobits per second. Some types of broadband Internet are cable modem Internet, satellite Internet and wireless Internet. Wireless Internet is the type of broadband access that you can often get for free. Thanks to wireless technology, you can now get broadband Internet access for free with the appropriate strategy.

Ensure that your computer is capable of picking up wireless broadband signal. Some computers come preinstalled with internal wireless cards, whereas others require the purchase of an external wireless card. Read your computer specifications to determine which type you have. If your computer requires an external wirless card, you will have to purchase one before proceeding to the next steps.

Locate and go to a Wi-Fi hot spot to get free broadband access. Numerous businesses offer free Wi-Fi to attract consumers, such as McDonald's, Starbucks and many hotel chains. Conduct a search for Wi-fi hot spots in your area, and then go to the one nearest you and order a coffee or soda so that you can use the business's free wireless signal. (Oftentimes businesses require you to purchase something if you plan on sitting in their area for an extended amount of time).

Purchase a wireless antenna so that you can pick up a longer range of wireless signals, and then connect to unsecured wireless networks like other home networks and free business Wi-Fi.
